** It could just be low or empty. Just pour pure, undilluted AF in, see howmuch it takes, then gauge the heat difference. It may take lots and be enough to make you happy.

NO SCOTTY, manufacturers don't make most of their money fixing cars, not parts not service. They make bundle building cars. Cars are much smaller, lighter, and much is replaced with cheap electronics but still cost much more. Wake up, Scotty.

You got it wrong this time, Scotty. Agreed, auto dealers should not say "only we are qualified to work on this car" solely to get all the business. But now we are in a gray area and all are walking on eggshells. Do you want the responsibility of fixing the auto-drive system on a Tesla or Caddy? When it wrecks are you prepared to testify in court why it wasn't your fault? Scotty, you say, "The information should be readily available, especially with safety things, like this." Really? Medical books are readily available, Do you want me operating on your heart? I promise I'll use "all the special equipment." I'll find a place to cram every tube. Doctors are certified after training for specialties. Don't you think your life should be in the hands of certified technicians fixing safety components and systems on vehicles? Will Scotty Kilmer recognize a programming bug? Manufacturers need some breathing room and experience under their belt before Scotting Kilmer gets a crack at certifying a vehicle's auto-drive system is "factory correct." My opinion is the auto-drive features are too much too soon. But I don't make the rules. Neither do you. Think about it, Scotty.

I can't be a mechanic because of dumb owners. One example, person asked to have a new timing belt installed. During the installation i suggested that the water pump needs to be replaced because it was going bad. They said NO, i said it needs to be done and now is the time to do it. This engine used the timing belt to operate the pump. Well a month later the pump gave out and they were mad at me for their bad decision.

Really as you said it has become very big problem, keeping the technical information about vehicles in secret. Not allowing the independent mechanics to learn and work upon cars. Even today We are finding it very difficult to get Service manuals of Newly launched Cars or Old cars. Car companies want to continue mint money through their authorized service stations. This is very BAD. No Democracy.

If the car manufacturers could get away with it, they'd scrub the word "mechanic" from our memories and replace it with a "certified technician".

The problem started with consumer protection and ASE certifications, aka government intervention.

6 months into a 3-year lease of a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek (best car I've ever had). I drive 20K miles/year in Upper Michigan and this early winter proved out the AWD control and stability I was looking for. You actually have to control the tendency to OVERDRIVE the car - because it can GO like a mother, but it can't STOP like a mother. Considering snow tires just to get better stopping power in the snow. Downsides: Defroster is underpowered - and, while you can Remote Start the car in full defost mode that mode doesn't seem to be available via the selector knob. Weird. Also, on a dry road I had a pickup turn left in front of me, plenty of room - but it didn't clear the LEFT lane fast enough for the Eyesight System, which AGGRESSIVELY applied the brakes. I don't want a repeat on snow or ice...

The consumer and independent mechanics are already protected by the Magnuson-Moss Act in 1975... dealers cannot void warranties if the work was done in a shop other than a dealer... this is not an issue. All good automotive mechanics should be aware of this...

I can turn the light off and on manually with the TEC II plugged in, but the light comes back on when it's disconnected, and there is nowhere in the menu that allows for a manual reset.
Have you ever seen this before, and do you know where the circuitry for that oil life system lives? There is seemingly little information online anywhere, and the dealer has no clue, so you're the last hope!!

I gave up and never did find out why. Most people drive used cars, and most mechanics fixed used cars. So, who cares about warranty? BMWs have the most widely available info out there, given their popularity with poor young males. Get one of those, and you are good to go.

I agree with him talking about "fair" price for information, however, we have a right to repair as independent shops. The fact is, if a car is under manufacturer warranty, why would you take it someplace to have it fixed where you'd have to pay? Most cars today come with a 3/36 and 5/60 for powertrain. Some come with 10/100, so indy shops won't see a model year until it is out of warranty most of the time. The ability to gain access to modules and other such information is absolutely there for indy shops.
